Dear CSU Faculty and Staff:

Everyone who is currently employed at Colorado State University is encouraged to participate in a survey we are undertaking to assess the current state of our university work environment. Please click on the survey link to begin the survey, or copy and paste the link into the address bar of you web browser: http://studentvoice.com/colsa/workplaceclimate.

While various groups at CSU — including our employee councils and most recently the President’s Commission on Women and Gender Equity — have conducted periodic studies related to campus climate, we have not recently conducted this type of comprehensive survey to address our entire employee population. We believe conducting such a survey on a routine basis provides us a more solid baseline for continuous evaluation and improvement.

There are two points we want to highlight for you:

  • Our goal is to gain a better picture of the University as a whole, not to focus on an individual, department, or situation. Aggregate data related to a division or college will be shared with deans and vice presidents in those areas, who will only receive a general summary of related comments — not individual responses. We believe confidentiality is paramount to this process, and our goal is to ensure confidentiality to the greatest extent possible.
  • Please consider each question from your own perspective and answer in a way that makes the most sense to you given your own work environment and experience.

The survey will conclude on January 6, 2012. The final results will be broadly communicated to the campus community to inform decision making as appropriate. People who complete the survey may enter a prize drawing for gift certificates to the CSU Bookstore.

We want to recognize and thank the team that has worked for several months to develop this survey, The Committee on Assessment for Diversity Issues. Faculty Council, AP Council, and Classified Personnel Council have been made aware of the survey and expressed their support for the process.

This survey is part of our overall commitment to institutional accountability and to providing an exceptional, equitable work environment for faculty and staff. The survey includes a variety of questions related to diversity, workplace environment, and a number of related topics. Without good information, we can’t make progress, and your candid, truthful responses are an essential part of this process.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey: http://studentvoice.com/colsa/workplaceclimate.
